A Compelling Argument

Last night the girl wrote this essay on 'Why I Need a Dog' and gave it to us parents. I know it it hard to read and the pictures need to be rotated (I tried several times to rotate them, but when they show up on the blog they went right back to the old way).

Here is the essay:

Why I Need a Dog:

I would like to have a dog of my own someday (that lives with us). Here are a few of the many reasons why I need a dog:
1., having a dog will teach me to be very responsible (cleaning up after it, taking care of it, etc)2., a dog can protect the house, such as when there is a burglar in the neighborhood. And 3., a dog will give me another playmate. Here are a few good facts about dog owners (no offense to Boscoe (our cat)):1., dog owners are happier, healthier and more relaxed than people that don't have dogs. 2., they also tend to live longer. These are the types of dogs that would suit me: a husky, a saint bernard, a lab, a great dane, a german shepard, or an irish wolfhound. I would prefer a boy dog because they are more energetic than girl dogs. A girl dog is okay, though. The reason why I only want big dogs is because little dogs bark a lot and are very restless. A dog would be a good gift for Christmas or my birthday. I think a dog would be good for this family (maybe not so much for Boscoe :() because dogs are very fun to live with. They are also very fun to play with :). I think this will convince you to get me a dog.

Can you tell the girl's class has worked on reasoning in writing? I can hardly wait to see the reasons why we should buy her a car in a couple of years. Imagine how long that essay will be.

  1. A mutt would be nice too, a girl mutt.
Do you think a dog would make a good Easter gift? :)

  3. I think a dog would be better than a bunny for Easter.
