A Sunny Sunday

It was a nice day, so we decided to take the kids to the beach. Since the ocean is cold, they usually come out of the water a bright shade of pink. Thankfully, Costco had a special last week on wetsuits and they were even in the kids sizes. The girl boarded to her heart's content and the boy wandered out further into the waves than he has ever been. Even hubby got into the action, borrowing the girl's board to boogie in the waves. You can thank me later for not sharing those pictures :).

After they got out of the water hubby and the kids dug for sand crabs. They found some huge ones and brought them over to me to share. They are really ugly looking things. Of course, the girl asked a million questions about their anatomy. So, when we got home we had to read about them on the internet. I don't know who was more fascinated, her or her Dad.

We ended the day on the free Marina Shuttle. It is a boat that stops off at different places and restaurants on the marina. You can ride it as long as you want. The kids had fun watching the sea lions that came up to the side of the boat. The sea lions would also go right up to the paddle boarders in the marina and scare them.

We hope everyone on the East Coast is doing well and has no damage from the severe weather.

First Day of School

Today is the first day of school.  The summer flew by.  This is the girl in front of her classroom.

The boy at assembly.

The boy's class

After school we headed to the beach. It may be our last time this year. There is a lot of home work in third grade.

These pictures are for Grandfather, we wish you were here.

The girl is headed out to the surf to boogie board. The boy is having fun in the waves.

While surfing, the girl saw two seals next to her, also enjoying the waves.

Right after I took this picture, one of the boy's friend's from school happened to be on the beach. She came over and played with the boy all afternoon. Since she has three older brothers, she knows how to play with the boys.

The End of Summer

It is the last week of summer vacation, so we enjoyed a few last outings. We went to an amusement park with friends. Since most of the kids in our area were already back in school this week, we had no lines to worry about, that and discount tickets made it a fun day.

Up in the air, its a bird, its a plane, no, its a giant mushroom swing. The kids went on this ride half a dozen times.

The girl on the ferris wheel. Right after this, we went to the water section of the park, where the girl bumped into one of her friend's from school. Her friend's Mom asked if she could join them for the remainder of the day. I let her, as she sometimes gets bored hanging out with her younger brother and his friends. She had a fun time with her friend's family (all girls) and the boys had fun doing what boys do.

The last ride of the day. A giant pendulum ride. The boys sat at the end so they could get higher up in the air. They had their hands in the air the entire time to add to the excitement of the ride. If you look close, you can see the girl in the middle of the ride.

Water World

It is almost the end of summer for the kids. I can't believe how fast this summer went. When I was a kid (in addition to walking up hill to school both ways, in a tsunami) school didn't actually start until after Labor Day. You know, the unofficial end of summer. Now they start in August. So, we decided to make the most of our second to last week and spend most of it under water. On Monday the kids went swimming at a friend's house. Tuesday was spent swimming at my Aunt's house (that is the picture below, they are finally tired out), Wednesday we went to the beach with friends. Those pictures are in a previous post. Thursday was a swim party at a friends. Friday, we ended the week by going to the beach with hubby. That is where these pictures are taken. The girl was finally able to boogie board (while her Dad watched) though the water is so cold that she should have a wetsuit. The boy and I jumped waves and played frisbee.

An Amusing Wednesday

The girl and her friend A on a ride at the amusement park. These kids are daredevils and went on every ride they could.

The boy and his friends on our way to an amusement park. We had been at the beach and us Mom's made the boys go change into warmer clothes before we hit the rides. This is the only picture that came out of the boys on the ride. The rest of the rides went to fast for me to get a good picture.

School Supplies

The boy got his new backpack today.  When we got home from karate he had to show his Dad.  The word awesome was heard several times.

Interesting Coupons

As I went to bed last night I found this stack of coupons clipped together under my pillow.

Got to love that last one.
